My writing interests are varied and diverse. Currently the bulk of my writing in terms of volume is in non-fiction, but I have a deep interest in mystery fiction, followed by other genre fiction. I have several on-going journalism assignments, one for an on-line newspaper, another for a print and on-line quarterly Tarot Journal. I also write the occassional piece for a magazine about on-line libraries.
However, my main current project is a book about the interpretation of the Court cards of the Tarot and their relationship to the Jungian personality types of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicators (MBTI). The current expectation is that this book, with the working title of The Tarot Courts: Realms of Personality will be on bookstore shelves by summer of 2009. See my Tarot website for more information.
My fiction writing has taken a back seat to non-fiction lately, but I am still working on several projects. The main one is the first in a series of police procedurals that feature Kate Roark, a homicide detective with the San Diego Police Department and her partner, Joe (José) Castro.
My experience with the National Novel Writing Month helped me to outline and get a start on another series, also set in San Diego, but in the very different sub-genre of hardboiled PI fiction. This series features a female private investigator, Gina Olivetti. The first work in this series, still very much a work-in-progress, is titled Mirror, Mirror. Kate and Joe make occassional "cameo" appearances in the Olivetti series and Gina may some day appear in one of Kate's stories.
